Overwhelming, a battle, exhausting, confusing ... just some of the words I have heard used to describe it.
It can be difficult to know what to do when life feels like this or what to do with those thoughts and feelings that you just do not understand. Finding the words to help you to talk to loved ones about things can be even harder; you may feel unable to confide in them or afraid you will upset them if you share how you really feel. This can often leave you feeling alone, confused, angry and upset and as if all the thoughts and feelings are taking over your life. It can feel hopeless.
When we struggle to make sense of things and find it hard to cope our behaviour often changes, we find ourselves being agressive, tearful, withdrawn, angry. To numb the conflict and pain we are in we often turn to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, over work, self harm or any other means that may help to relieve ourselves of the thoughts and feelings we are not comfortable with - even if the relief is only short lived.
In a safe and confidential space I offer you the opportunity to talk, sit, share and explore your thoughts and understand your feelings and actions more clearly. My aim is for you to feel accepted and understood, not judged or criticised. I will listen and try to understand what it is like to be you and together we will try to make sense of your situation enabling you to more forward with a greater sense of well being and a more positive outlook for the future.
